Symptoms of Colinfection caused by Escherichia coli, bacteria are fever, bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. It affects the adults severely or mild but the children are affected severely and it leads to death or kidney failure.

E coli is transmitted through uncooked ground beef, manure of calves and cattle and the animals need not be ill for transmission of E coli.,

In order to reduce danger of getting infected hands should be washed carefully after coming in contact with cows or their stools which is used as manure with good  soap. While taking children to a farm or a zoo extra care should be taken by not allowing them to touch the animals and wash their hands after coming back with soap. Extra care has to be taken for children under five years.

If any symptoms like vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea is seen the physician should be contacted immediately and treatment started immediately. The physician should be told about the visit to the farm and get in touch with animals so that he will make the diagnosis properly and treatment started immediately in the correct way. Delaying treatment may end in further complications and delaying recovery. For children it may result in kidney failure or even death.
